Türkiye’s export prices rise in September while volumes decline
Türkiye’s export prices increased in September, but overall export volumes fell, according to data released Wednesday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
The export unit value index rose 6.0% compared to September 2024. By sector, manufactured goods (excluding food, beverages, and tobacco) increased 5.8%, food, beverages, and tobacco rose 11.1%, and crude materials (excluding fuels) increased 6.9%, while fuels decreased 7.1%.
In contrast, the export volume index fell 3.0% overall. Food, beverages, and tobacco dropped 11.9%, manufactured goods declined 3.1%, crude materials decreased 1.0%, and fuel exports increased 28.9%.
Imports saw a 1.7% rise in the unit value index. Food, beverages, and tobacco prices increased 10.2%, while fuels and crude materials (excluding fuels) decreased 9.1% and 4.5%, respectively. Manufactured goods prices went up 2.0%.
The import volume index grew 6.9%, with food, beverages, and tobacco increasing 10.9%, fuels 6.1%, crude materials 3.2%, and manufactured goods 3.5%.
Adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, Türkiye’s export volume index decreased 7.5% from August to September, while the import volume index increased 5.8%.
The terms of trade, which measure the relative value of exports compared to imports, rose to 89.4 in September 2025 from 85.8 in September 2024, indicating a slight improvement in Türkiye’s export purchasing power. (ILKHA)
