Türkiye’s free zones break historic foreign trade records in 2025
Türkiye’s free zones have achieved the highest foreign trade figures in the history of the Republic, both for the month of August and for the first eight months of 2025, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced Tuesday.
In a statement shared on his social media account, Minister Bolat highlighted the milestone, noting that Türkiye’s 19 free zones collectively exported goods worth $1.045 billion in August 2025, marking an all-time high.
According to the data, the free zones also posted a foreign trade surplus of $448 million during August, the largest monthly surplus ever recorded.
The momentum was sustained throughout the year, with January–August exports totaling $8.3 billion, setting a new record for the highest foreign trade performance in the country’s history for the first eight months of any year.
Bolat said these results reflect the strength of Türkiye’s industrial and production capacity, as well as the vital role that free zones play in boosting exports and supporting economic growth.
“Free zones are a key driver of Türkiye’s export-oriented development strategy,” Bolat said, emphasizing that the record performance showcases the resilience and competitiveness of Turkish producers on the global stage.
Free zones, which are strategically located across the country, provide tax advantages and streamlined procedures to attract domestic and international investors, serving as hubs for high-value manufacturing and trade. (ILKHA)
