“In every situation, we have to go through the peaceful way to solve the existing problems,” said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and added that some Gulf countries have to continue the dialogue on Qatari diplomatic crisis.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel held joint press conferences in the ministry after talks between the delegations.

Emphasizing that today's visit is very important, Minister Çavuşoğlu recalled that there is an atmosphere that negatively affects bilateral relations.

"Germany is our most important trading partner. We have a business alliance in other fields. There are more than 3.5 million Turks living in Germany. We have no reason from our side to have a problem with Germany. We will always take two steps if Germany takes a positive step towards us.”

"At the moment it is impossible to visit Incirlik but to visit the NATO base in Konya is possible,” said Çavuşoğlu relating to the fact that the German delegation wanted to visit İncirlik, Minister Çavuşoğlu added, "Our recommendation is that the German delegation visits Konya NATO Base. It's a good idea to start with that. At the moment it is possible to visit the NATO Base in Konya, not Incirlik.”

Referring to the international crisis that lives between some Arab countries and Qatar, Çavuşoğlu said, "We see the union of the Gulf region as our unity and togetherness. We have solidarity. There is a serious sectarianism in our region. Countries may have problems, but in all circumstances dialogue and contact should continue. We regret the current table. We also give any kind of support for the normalization of the situation.”

German Foreign Minister Gabriel, on a question about the Incirlik base, “There is no clear plan yet. We were constantly talking about how the Incirlik visit could be. No problem for Konya. We want to work with our Turkish colleagues in a peaceful way.” (ILKHA)
