Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun answered questions related to Turkiye's request for extradition of murderers of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Turkish Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun denounced Saudi Foreign Minister over his statement that Saudi Arabia does not extradite the murderer of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Altun said Riyadh's refusal to extradite the murderers was very disappointing and made a call for an international inquiry to seek justice over the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Saying that the Saudi intelligence officials, including an autopsy expert, came to Turkiye with the aim to commit this murder, Altun underlined that the Saudi Arabia Consulate General in Istanbul is a part of this crime.

"Under these circumstances, it is perfectly natural for murderers to be tried by Turkish courts. Turkiye's demand for extradition of suspects has given Saudi authorities an opportunity to show the world that they are ready to fully clarify the "Khashoggi murder," Altun said.

Altun stated that the refusal of the extradition of the Khashoggi's murderers justifies those who accuse Saudi Arabia of trying to cover up the murder.

"Considering that Saudi authorities are not open enough and that we haven’t seen an intent of the Saudi prosecutors to shed light on the murder, it would be in the interest of the international community to seek justice for the slain Saudi journalist," he said. (ILKHA)
