4.0-magnitude earthquake hits Datça in southwestern Türkiye
A moderate earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale struck the coastal district of Datça in Muğla province, southwestern Türkiye, according to official reports.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) confirmed the seismic event, stating that it occurred at a relatively shallow depth of 6.75 kilometers beneath the earth's surface. Shallow earthquakes like this one can often be felt more intensely at the surface.
No immediate reports of damage or injuries have been released, though local authorities are monitoring the situation. Datça, a popular tourist destination on the Datça Peninsula, is located in a seismically active region along Türkiye's Aegean coast.
Residents are advised to stay alert for potential aftershocks. Further updates will be provided by AFAD as more details emerge. (ILKHA)
