Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to defending its sovereignty and national identity during a speech at the 953rd anniversary celebrations of the Victory of Manzikert in the Ahlat district of Bitlis.

Addressing the gathered crowd, Erdoğan emphasized Türkiye's determination to overcome challenges and protect its homeland, stating, "We continue on our path by tearing up the scenarios against our homeland. All should know that we are not the caretakers but the true owners of these lands."

The President underscored the significance of Anatolia as the nation's homeland, referencing the countless martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country. "We are present both beneath and above these lands. Anatolia, in every inch of which a martyr lies, is our own homeland," Erdoğan declared.

The Victory of Manzikert, a pivotal battle in 1071 that opened the doors of Anatolia to the Seljuk Turks, holds deep historical significance for Türkiye, and the annual commemoration serves as a reminder of the nation's enduring legacy and strength. (ILKHA)
