A significant snowfall that began yesterday evening has adversely affected life across Van province in eastern Türkiye.
The heavy snow has led to the closure of roads in 131 settlements, with snow accumulation reaching 15 centimeters in the city center and up to 30 centimeters in higher areas.
The affected areas include 86 neighborhoods and 45 hamlets, where access has been completely cut off. In response to these conditions, schools have been closed, and the critical Van-Bahçesaray highway has been temporarily shut down for safety reasons.
Van Metropolitan Municipality teams are working tirelessly to clear the snow from rural neighborhood and hamlet roads, while similar efforts are underway in the city center to maintain accessibility.
The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued warnings to residents, advising them to prepare for ongoing snowfall in the region and to exercise caution. (ILKHA)
