Nuclear negotiations between Iran and the European troika—comprising the United Kingdom, France, and Germany—commenced on Friday morning at Iran’s consulate in Istanbul.

The talks, conducted at the deputy foreign minister level, mark a continuation of prior discussions aimed at addressing Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions.

Representing Iran are Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi and Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi. On Thursday evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi emphasized Iran’s unwavering stance, stating, “The world must know that our positions have not changed — we will defend the Iranian people’s rights.” He underscored that Iran’s uranium enrichment program would continue, asserting it as a fundamental right of the Iranian people.

Araghchi’s remarks come in the context of recent regional tensions, particularly following what he described as an “Israeli-imposed war.” He stressed that the talks follow the same trajectory as previous negotiations, with Iran maintaining a firm and clear position.

A spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the agenda focuses on lifting sanctions and addressing issues related to Iran’s nuclear program. However, Iran intends to articulate its positions with greater clarity during these discussions.
