The Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has issued a statement regarding the devastating earthquake that hit southern Türkiye and Syria, causing thousands of casualties in both countries.
“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan once again expresses its deepest condolences to the Muslim brethren of Türkiye and Syria who have suffered great casualties and damages in the recent powerful earthquake, with the numbers predicted to rise,” the ministry said.
The ministry went on to say: “IEA stands in solidarity with its brothers and sisters in this time of hardship, and announces a relief package of AFN 10 million and AFN 5 million to Türkiye and Syria respectively on the basis of shared humanity and Islamic brotherhood.”
The ministry emphasized that IEA emergency response and health teams stand ready to participate in rescue operations to assist their Turkish and Syrian brothers and sisters if called upon.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also instructs its diplomatic mission in Türkiye to not spare any efforts in assisting the victims, while also urging Türkiye based Afghan citizens to help with the relief efforts,” the ministry added. (ILKHA)
