ITTIHADUL ULEMA to mark Global Al Quds Week with series of events
The Union of Scholars and Madrasas (ITTIHADUL ULEMA) has revealed plans for a series of events to mark Al Quds Global Week, which will take place from January 23 to 30 this year.
The organization, in collaboration with various non-governmental groups, aims to raise awareness about the ongoing occupation of Jerusalem and contribute to the city’s liberation.
During a press release, ITTIHADUL ULEMA Board Member Mullah Remzi Uçar shared the organization’s message, emphasizing that the Al Quds (Jerusalem) cause is not just a political issue, but a matter of deep faith for Muslims. He quoted a verse from the Qur'an, “Allah, Who took His servant (Muhammad) one night from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, around which We have made it blessed,” to underscore the sanctity of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque in Islam. Uçar stressed that indifference to the plight of Jerusalem is a reflection of weak faith and a lack of humanity.
Uçar went on to highlight the religious importance of Jerusalem, particularly during the last week of Rajab, which includes the night of Isra and Miraj. On this night, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) traveled from Masjid al-Aqsa to the heavens. The week also marks the victory of Saladin Ayyubi’s Islamic forces over the Crusaders at the Battle of Hittin in 583 Hijri, leading to the liberation of Jerusalem.
ITTIHADUL ULEMA’S events during World Jerusalem Week will focus on raising awareness about Jerusalem’s ongoing occupation and the importance of its liberation. Uçar stated that the goal is to generate support for the freedom of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which remains under Zionist control.
“We will raise our voices to the world about the cause of Jerusalem,” Uçar affirmed. “Our mission is to help achieve the liberation of Jerusalem and to raise public awareness about the importance of this cause.”
The organization also called on the public to support the cause through financial contributions and by boycotting Zionist goods. Uçar encouraged everyone to participate in the Miraj Night prayers on the evening of January 26, 2025, in mosques across the country, honoring the significance of Jerusalem.
“Until Jerusalem is free, our voices and hearts will be with Jerusalem,” Uçar concluded, wishing a blessed Al Quds Global Week to all participants.
With a variety of events planned, Al Quds Global Week promises to be a significant opportunity to highlight the ongoing struggle for Jerusalem’s freedom and to unite people in support of justice and peace for the city. (ILKHA)
