Mohammed Rafik, 65, who prevented an attack on a mosque in Norway, showed a great example of heroism.

One person was injured in a gun attack on the Al-Noor Mosque on the outskirts of Oslo, Norway's capital.

An elderly man from a mosque community was said to have prevented the attacker after the attack.

Following the incident, it was also revealed how the old man had overpowered the attacker.

Mohammed Rafik, 65, who was at the mosque at the time of the incident and managed to get the gun in the hand of the attacker through his intervention, showed a great example of heroism.

Refik said was reciting the Quran inside the mosque when the attacker the 21-year-old, Philip Manshaus, who was in custody, entered the mosque and intervened as soon as the attacker began to open fire.

Speaking to the BBC, Refik said the attacker entered the mosque through a side door and began opening fire as soon as he entered.

Refik said he holds the attacker by the left and knocked to the ground, and then there was a struggle between them, during which the attacker stuck his finger in his left eye.

“When the man walked through the door, our hero was quick to intervene, said Irfan Mushtaq, another witness.

“He was sitting there reading the Qur’an. He got up and started moving towards the terrorist. At the time, the terrorist was continuing to open fire. Muhammad intervened and made the gun fall to the ground.”

The attacker, who was said to have a bulletproof vest on him, broke through the mosque's glass side door and entered and began opening fire.

The Norwegian press writes that the attacker's social media posts are understood to have been influenced and inspired by the gunmen in El Paso, the US, and Christchurch, New Zealand.
