Police seize 53 kg of heroin in eastern Turkey

Police seized 83 kg of heroin in Turkey’s eastern Van province the Provincial Police Department said in a statement.
The drug was found during a car search in the Ipekyolu district, according to the statement.
A suspect was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, the statement said.
The suspected drug dealer will be brought before the court after the police investigation is completed.
Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted under these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years. (ILKHA)
