Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim arrives in Ankara for high-level talks

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Ankara on Thursday for a high-level meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, focusing on investment and trade agreements.
The two leaders will preside over the Türkiye-Qatar High Strategic Committee's tenth session, during which a series of investment-related accords are expected to be signed.
The visit underscores Qatar and Türkiye's deepening strategic partnership and economic collaboration. The talks come amid Qatar's recent decision to halt efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel until both sides demonstrate commitment to negotiations.
Türkiye’s stance on the Gaza conflict, which includes criticism of Israeli offensives, aligns with its supportive approach toward Palestine. Türkiye does not recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization, and some political officials affiliated with the group have met with Turkish authorities.
After a private bilateral discussion, Erdogan and Sheikh Tamim will chair the committee meeting and subsequently participate in a signing ceremony for various agreements, further solidifying the economic ties between the two nations. (ILKHA)
