Snowfall closes 255 village roads in Van, Türkiye

Heavy snowfall has led to the closure of 255 village roads across Van and its districts, local authorities reported on Monday.
The snowfall began last night and persisted into the morning, disrupting normal life in the region. In the city center, snow accumulation reached up to 5 centimeters, whereas in the higher altitudes, it measured up to 25 centimeters.
Efforts to clear the affected roads are in full swing, with snow-fighting teams from both the local government and the Van Metropolitan Municipality working to restore access. The teams have prioritized opening roads to villages in cases of medical emergencies, births, and deaths.
The Metropolitan Municipality has also commenced snow removal operations on the main streets within the city to mitigate the impact of the snowfall on daily commutes and activities.
Officials have reassured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to address the situation as quickly as possible. (ILKHA)
