Turkish authorities have seized a significant amount of undeclared US dollars from Ukrainian women at the Kaptan Andrevo Border Crossing, located opposite Turkey's Kapıkule Border Crossing.
The incident occurred when a bus with Turkish license plates, carrying 34 passengers from Ukraine to Turkey, arrived at the border. During a routine inspection by customs officers at Bulgaria's Kaptan Andrevo Border Gate, it was discovered that five female passengers of Ukrainian nationality were carrying large sums of undeclared cash.
Upon detailed examination, authorities found that the women had hidden various US dollar bills, totaling $171,200, in their bags and wrapped in their underwear. The undeclared money was seized by customs officers.
The seizure underscores the strict regulations and vigilant enforcement at the border crossings between Bulgaria and Turkey, aimed at preventing smuggling and ensuring compliance with financial declaration laws. The Ukrainian women involved in the incident are now subject to further investigation by Turkish authorities. (ILKHA)
