Türkiye's Ministry of National Defense announced the "neutralization" of seven members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its Syrian affiliate, the YPG, in counter-terrorism operations conducted over the weekend.
According to a ministry statement posted on social media, four PKK/YPG members were "neutralized" in the Euphrates Shield region of northern Syria, while three PKK members were "neutralized" in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq.
Turkish authorities often use the term "neutralized" to refer to killing militants in security operations.
The PKK is designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union. The YPG is considered by Türkiye to be an extension of the PKK. The group has been engaged in a decades-long insurgency against the Turkish state. (ILKHA)
