Afghan and Kazakh officials hold talks to expand political and economic cooperation
Afghanistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Kazakhstan’s presidential special envoy, Perkin Tokumov, to discuss strengthening political and economic cooperation and to exchange views on recent regional developments, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, the talks focused on expanding bilateral relations and enhancing coordination on regional political and security issues.
During the meeting, Muttaqi stressed the importance of building relations with neighboring and regional countries based on mutual understanding and respect. He noted that political and economic ties between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan have seen “remarkable progress” in recent months, reflecting growing engagement between Kabul and Astana.
Tokumov expressed Kazakhstan’s willingness to further deepen cooperation with Afghanistan and emphasized the shared responsibility of regional countries in maintaining stability and security. He also assured that Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, would continue supporting cooperation with Kabul in political, economic, and regional security fields.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing regional cooperation amid evolving political and security dynamics in Central Asia. (ILKHA)
