Afghanistan’s Interior Minister meets China’s Foreign Minister in Kabul

Afghanistan’s Minister of Interior, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, met with China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, on Wednesday in Kabul, in a move aimed at bolstering cooperation between the two nations.
Mufti Abdul Matin Qaneh, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior, announced the meeting on his X account, highlighting the wide range of topics discussed. These included security cooperation, combating narcotics, border security and coordination of border forces, trade, agriculture, and educational programs.
During the discussions, Minister Haqqani described the relations between Afghanistan and China as “historic,” emphasizing China’s longstanding positive engagement with Afghanistan.
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi echoed these sentiments, noting that the ties between the two countries have “deep historical roots,” and reaffirmed China’s commitment to continued cooperation across multiple sectors.
The meeting reflects Afghanistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and address key domestic and regional challenges, particularly in security, economic development, and education. (ILKHA)
