Afghanistan, Türkiye vow to strengthen political and economic ties
Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with the Turkish Chargé d’Affaires in Kabul, Cenk Ünal, on Thursday for a farewell meeting marking the conclusion of the Turkish diplomat's mission.
According to a statement from the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the two officials discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues, with a focus on expanding political and economic cooperation between the two nations.
During the meeting, Minister Muttaqi expressed his appreciation for Türkiye's role in facilitating dialogue between Afghanistan and Pakistan, highlighting Ankara's diplomatic efforts in the region.
Chargé d’Affaires Ünal acknowledged the support and cooperation extended to him by the Ministry and officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) throughout his posting.
“I am pleased to have successfully completed my mission in Afghanistan, working to strengthen comprehensive relations between the two countries,” Ünal was quoted as saying.
The meeting underscores the ongoing engagement between Kabul and Ankara as both sides review avenues to further strengthen their diplomatic and economic partnership. (ILKHA)
