At least 17 Palestinians were killed and more than 80, mostly children and women, were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a UNRWA-run school in the Gaza Strip on Sunday afternoon, according to the Government Media Office (GMO).
The attack targeted Abu Oreiban School in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, where displaced families had sought shelter. In a statement, the GMO condemned the Israeli assault, labeling it a continuation of ongoing crimes and massacres against civilians.
"We condemn the Israeli occupation for committing such ongoing crimes and massacres against civilians, children, and women," the GMO stated. The office highlighted that these attacks come amid an already dire humanitarian and health situation, with multiple hospitals bombed and out of service.
The GMO held the Israeli occupation regime and the US administration fully responsible for the ongoing war crimes against Gaza's civilian population. It called on the international community, the United Nations, and nations worldwide to exert pressure on Israel and the US to halt the "genocidal war on Gaza." (ILKHA)
