At least eight people were killed and 60 others injured in the Bahawalpur bus collision in the Bahawalpur district of Pakistan’s southeastern Punjab province.
The accident occurred at Ada Israni near Khairpur after two passenger buses coming from opposite directions collided with each other, according to rescue sources.
The injured were transferred to Bahawal Victoria Hospital where the condition of 10 people including five women is said to be critical.
The accident was due to over-speeding, officials said.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, about 9,700 road accidents are reported every year, killing around 5,000 people. (ILKHA)
