The bodies of 27 migrants, who drowned while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea, have washed ashore in western Libya, the country’s Red Crescent said.
“The bodies have been found in two separate locations in the coastal town of Khoms,” the Red Crescent said.
The organization also released images purporting to show bodies floating in the sea with its workers putting them in black burial bags.
Since the toppling of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has been suffering insecurity and chaos, making the country a preferred point of departure for irregular migrants aiming to cross the Mediterranean Sea towards European countries. (ILKHA)
