Carnage in Khan Younis: Israel targets civilians waiting for food aid

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Saturday that at least 98 Palestinians have been martyred and 511 others wounded over the past 48 hours as Israeli occupation forces intensified their bombardment across the besieged Gaza Strip.
Among the dead are three Palestinians whose bodies were recovered from beneath rubble, with many more believed to be trapped as rescue teams struggle to reach affected areas amid continuous aerial and artillery attacks.
The relentless Israeli offensive, ongoing since October 7, 2023, has now claimed the lives of 58,765 Palestinians and left 140,485 wounded, according to the latest figures. Between March 18, 2025, and today, the toll has reached 7,938 killed and 28,444 injured, in what Palestinian officials describe as a systematic campaign of genocide targeting civilians, including the displaced and aid-seeking population.
In a tragic development on Sunday morning, Israeli forces bombed a humanitarian aid distribution point on Al-Tineh Street, south of Khan Younis, killing over 25 Palestinians and injuring more than 70, according to medical sources at Nasser Medical Complex. Witnesses reported that victims were gathering to receive desperately needed food assistance when occupation warplanes launched the strike.
This attack adds to a mounting toll of civilians targeted while attempting to secure food and aid: in the past 48 hours alone, 14 Palestinians were killed and more than 94 injured during aid-seeking efforts. In total, 891 people have been martyred and 5,754 wounded in such attacks since the escalation of the blockade-induced famine began, Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed.
Israeli forces also targeted displacement zones and residential areas across the Strip. In western Khan Younis, an airstrike hit tents sheltering displaced civilians near the Japanese neighborhood, killing one and injuring several others. In western Gaza City, warplanes struck a residential apartment, injuring multiple civilians.
Heavy artillery shelling continued in the central Gaza Strip, particularly north of al-Nuseirat and al-Bureij refugee camps, further exacerbating the crisis for already displaced families. Meanwhile, in Jabalia al-Balad, located in northern Gaza, two Palestinians were killed and several injured after Israeli attacks targeted civilian gathering points, according to local sources.
Across the devastated Gaza Strip, bombardments of densely populated areas—especially those hosting displaced populations—have caused rising fatalities among families already suffering from famine, disease, and lack of shelter. Medical facilities remain overwhelmed, struggling with mass casualties while operating with minimal supplies due to the continued siege and restricted humanitarian access.
The targeting of aid centers and shelters marks a grim escalation in the ongoing assault, with observers warning that Israel's war tactics are increasingly aimed at extinguishing the last hopes for survival among Gaza’s war-stricken population. (ILKHA)
