Ceasefire in name only: Israeli attacks continue to claim Palestinian lives in Gaza

The death toll from the Israeli occupation’s relentless assault on the Gaza Strip has climbed to 68,280 martyrs and 170,375 injured since October 7, 2023, according to figures released by Gaza’s health authorities.
Despite the declared ceasefire, Israeli forces continue to target civilians and residential areas across the besieged enclave. Medical sources reported that 14 Palestinians were martyred in the past 24 hours — one by direct targeting and 13 whose bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble of bombed homes.
Health officials warned that many victims remain trapped under collapsed buildings and in destroyed streets, as ambulance and rescue crews face immense difficulties reaching them due to the widespread devastation and continued obstruction by the occupation forces.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, at least 89 Palestinians have been martyred and 317 others injured, underscoring what observers describe as the Israeli regime’s ongoing violations of the truce. Specialized civil defense teams have so far recovered 449 bodies from under the debris of homes and public facilities destroyed during months of bombardment.
The Gaza Health Ministry reiterated that the humanitarian situation in the Strip remains catastrophic. Tens of thousands of displaced families are sheltering in makeshift camps with limited access to food, water, and medicine, while hospitals struggle to function under the total blockade.
Human rights organizations have denounced the continued Israeli aggression and called on the international community to hold the occupation accountable for war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people.
Despite the devastation, the resilience of Gaza’s population endures. Local volunteers and medical teams continue their tireless efforts to save lives amid ruins — a testament to the unbreakable spirit of a people steadfast in the face of oppression and siege. (ILKHA)
