Death toll from Israeli airstrikes rises to 46 in Yemen

Yemen’s Health Ministry confirmed Thursday that Israeli airstrikes on the capital Sanaa and al-Jawf province have killed at least 46 people and wounded 165 others, with a heavy toll among women and children.
According to the Ministry of Health, 38 people were killed and 147 injured in Sanaa, while al-Jawf suffered eight deaths and 18 injuries. The ministry noted that these figures are preliminary as rescue operations continue and more victims may be discovered under the rubble.
The attacks claimed the lives of five children and left 31 injured. Eleven women were killed and 29 wounded. Among men, 30 were killed and 105 injured. The Ministry emphasized the disproportionate civilian toll, highlighting the devastating impact on families and communities.
Yemen’s Health Ministry condemned the airstrikes as a deliberate act of aggression, noting that residential buildings, public service centers, and media institutions were struck in multiple raids on Wednesday afternoon. The attacks have caused widespread destruction and deepened humanitarian suffering in the affected areas.
Civil defense and medical teams continue their urgent work, recovering victims from collapsed structures and providing lifesaving assistance to the wounded. Authorities have called on the international community to hold the perpetrators accountable and to urgently intervene to prevent further civilian casualties.
Humanitarian organizations warn that these airstrikes constitute a severe violation of international law, and appeals for immediate protection of Yemeni civilians are intensifying. As Yemen mourns the victims, the resilience of its people continues to be tested amid escalating foreign aggression. (ILKHA)
