Death toll in Gaza rises to 53,339 amid relentless Israeli bombardment

The humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip continues to deepen as Israeli forces intensify their assault, with at least 67 Palestinians killed and 361 injured in the past 24 hours, according to medical sources in the enclave.
Local health authorities reported that since the beginning of the Israeli offensive on October 7, 2023, the total death toll has now climbed to 53,339, with 121,043 wounded — the vast majority of them women and children.
The renewed Israeli military campaign, which resumed on March 18, 2025, following a two-month truce, has alone resulted in the deaths of 3,193 Palestinians, with 8,993 more injured, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.
Emergency Services Targeted
The situation on the ground remains dire, as emergency and civil defense teams struggle to reach victims trapped beneath rubble or stranded on streets. Local authorities accuse Israeli forces of deliberately targeting ambulances and rescue crews, further hindering humanitarian efforts and endangering the lives of both survivors and first responders.
International Appeals Ignored
Despite growing international condemnation, Israel’s military campaign shows no signs of slowing. The United Nations Security Council has called for an immediate ceasefire, and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has issued provisional measures ordering Israel to take steps to prevent genocide and ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Nevertheless, Israeli airstrikes and ground operations persist, compounding what rights organizations and medical groups describe as one of the worst humanitarian disasters of the 21st century.
As global institutions continue to appeal for restraint and humanitarian access, Gaza remains under siege — its civilian population trapped, starving, and under constant attack, with no safe refuge and little hope for immediate relief. (ILKHA)
