Gaza ceasefire agreement officially signed in Doha
The deal, signed by negotiators from Israel, Qatar, and Hamas, promises to release cptives held in Gaza and initiate a ceasefire, offering a glimmer of hope for the Palestinian people who have endured immense suffering.
The delay in the Israeli government's vote on the agreement has postponed the start of the ceasefire and the release of the first captives. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed his team to prepare for the release of the captives, showing a commitment to progress.
Under the agreement, 33 Israeli captives will be released, including women, children, and those who are wounded or sick. The Israeli occupation forces will gradually withdraw from key areas in Gaza, allowing displaced Palestinians to return to their homes and communities.
Moreover, the agreement includes the release of over 700 Palestinian prisoners, many of whom were detained during the recent aggression. This significant act of goodwill is seen as a step towards justice and reconciliation for the Palestinian population.
Humanitarian aid will also flow into Gaza, with 600 aid trucks and 50 fuel trucks entering the region daily. Additionally, 200,000 tents and 60,000 mobile homes will be delivered to provide shelter for displaced Palestinians, highlighting the international community's commitment to alleviating their plight.
As guarantors of the agreement, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States will ensure its implementation, fostering a sense of hope and stability for the region. The second phase of the agreement will focus on the release of remaining captives and a permanent ceasefire, offering a pathway to lasting peace.
This historic agreement underscores the resilience and determination of the Palestinian people and their allies. It is a testament to the power of diplomacy and the unwavering spirit of those who continue to fight for justice, peace and freedom in Gaza. (ILKHA)
