Gaza death toll nears 60,000 as Israeli attacks kill 57 more civilians in 24 hours

The death toll from Israel’s ongoing genocidal assault on the Gaza Strip has risen to 59,733, after hospitals in the besieged enclave received the bodies of 57 more martyrs over the past 24 hours, according to a statement released Saturday morning by Gaza’s Health Ministry.
In addition to the new fatalities, 512 Palestinians were wounded in a fresh wave of Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting civilian areas across the territory. Medical officials report that the attacks have overwhelmed Gaza’s decimated healthcare infrastructure, which is operating under extreme shortages of fuel, medicine, and equipment.
Since the Israeli occupation forces resumed their full-scale war on March 18, 2025, at least 8,581 Palestinians have been killed and 32,436 others injured, the ministry confirmed.
The broader toll from the war, which began on October 7, 2023, now stands at 59,733 dead and 144,477 injured, amid what health and humanitarian organizations have described as the systematic destruction of Gaza’s civilian population. Among those killed are 1,121 displaced civilians and aid seekers, many of whom were targeted at or near food distribution points backed by the United States and international agencies. At least 7,485 of the wounded also include individuals seeking humanitarian assistance.
Meanwhile, civil defense and emergency teams are continuing their efforts to recover the bodies of additional martyrs believed to be buried under rubble or stranded in inaccessible areas due to continued shelling and the collapse of infrastructure.
The health ministry reiterated its calls for an immediate ceasefire, full access for humanitarian aid, and international accountability for what it has labeled clear war crimes and acts of genocide.
As the war enters its tenth month, Gaza remains under a near-total blockade, with most hospitals out of service, over one million displaced, and entire neighborhoods reduced to ruins. The international community continues to face growing criticism for its failure to halt the bloodshed or protect civilians trapped in one of the world’s most densely populated and heavily bombarded areas.
