Gaza’s genocide: Death toll reaches 61,158, famine claims dozens more lives

The death toll from Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has risen to 61,158, the majority of whom are women and children, since the start of the aggression on October 7, 2023, according to medical sources in the enclave on Wednesday.
The total number of people wounded has climbed to 151,442, with thousands more believed to be trapped under rubble in areas that remain inaccessible to rescue teams due to heavy bombardment and the collapse of emergency services.
Casualties Mount Amid Ceasefire Violation
Medical officials reported that 138 Palestinians were killed — three of whom were recovered from under debris — and 771 wounded in the past 24 hours alone.
Since March 18, when Israeli forces violated the ceasefire agreement, 9,654 people have been killed and 39,401 injured, the sources added.
Famine and Aid-Related Deaths Rising
The worsening humanitarian crisis is compounded by famine and aid-related fatalities. Health authorities reported that 87 Palestinians, including women and children, died over the past 24 hours while attempting to access aid, with 570 more injured. This brings the total number of “aid line” fatalities since the start of the crisis to 1,655, with 11,800 injured.
Hospitals in Gaza also recorded five new deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the past day, raising the total death toll from starvation-related causes to 193, including 96 children.
Humanitarian Catastrophe Continues
The Gaza health sector warns that conditions remain catastrophic, with hospitals overwhelmed, food supplies critically low, and aid convoys still restricted. Thousands remain at risk as Israel’s blockade and ongoing bombardment have left much of the territory’s infrastructure in ruins. (ILKHA)
