Hezbollah slams Israeli incursion into Blida as violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty
Hezbollah has strongly condemned the latest Israeli assault on the southern Lebanese border town of Blida, calling it a continuation of the Zionist regime’s “criminal violations” of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a blatant disregard for international law and agreements.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Resistance movement said that Israeli forces entered the town, stormed the municipal building, and killed municipal employee Ibrahim Salameh in his home. The group described the operation as an act of aggression and intimidation against Lebanese civilians living near the border.
“Proof of Continued Hostility”
Hezbollah said the attack exposes the occupation’s ongoing hostility toward Lebanon and its people, accusing Israel of attempting to provoke further confrontation in the south. The movement noted that the latest violation came immediately after the visit of the U.S. envoy to Lebanon and recent committee meetings on border tensions — evidence, it said, that Washington continues to provide Israel with political cover and a “green light” to escalate.
“This attack is not an isolated incident, but part of the criminal Zionist enemy’s continuous aggression against our people and our land,” the statement read. “It confirms the enemy’s contempt for international norms and its reliance on American protection to pursue its crimes without consequence.”
Call for National Unity and Defense
Hezbollah urged all Lebanese political forces to stand united in confronting Israeli aggression and praised President Joseph Aoun for his firm stance and his directive to the Lebanese Army to respond to Israeli incursions. The group reaffirmed its full support for the army’s defensive efforts, emphasizing that national unity and resistance are the only effective deterrents to Israel’s continued violations.
“The Resistance and the army stand on the same front in defense of Lebanon’s sovereignty,” Hezbollah declared, calling on all national institutions to coordinate their efforts to protect the people of the south.
Appeal to the International Community
The statement also urged the Lebanese government to adopt a strong political and diplomatic plan to halt Israeli attacks and safeguard civilians. Hezbollah called on the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and UNIFIL peacekeeping forces to fulfill their duties by taking firm and immediate measures to stop Israel’s violations of Resolution 1701 and its repeated aggression against Lebanon.
Hezbollah stressed that the international community’s continued silence and inaction have emboldened the occupation to expand its crimes, warning that Lebanon will not tolerate such violations indefinitely.
“The Lebanese people have the right to defend themselves and their land against the Zionist enemy’s aggression,” the statement concluded. “The Resistance will remain ready and steadfast in confronting any attack, in defense of Lebanon’s sovereignty, dignity, and independence.”
The assault on Blida marks the latest in a series of border incidents in recent weeks, as Israeli forces have intensified their incursions and airspace violations across southern Lebanon, raising fears of a broader escalation in the region. (ILKHA)
