After 13,341 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,016,835 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Friday.
347 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 49,695.
There are at least 5,824 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 708,106 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 6,256,715 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,514,254 with 65,644,526 cases and more than 45,474,045 recoveries. (ILKHA)
