Iran reports no radiation leak following U.S. airstrikes

Islamic Republic of Iran confirmed early Sunday that recent U.S. airstrikes targeting its nuclear facilities failed to inflict any substantial damage, nor did they cause radiation leaks or endanger nearby populations.
This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump, in what Iranian officials describe as a political stunt, claimed a “very successful attack” on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities via a post on Truth Social. In stark contrast, Iranian authorities, backed by independent regional agencies, revealed that the attack was both ineffective and misrepresented by Washington.
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, through its National Nuclear Safety System Center, reported that monitoring systems showed no signs of radioactive contamination at any of the sites. All nuclear systems remain fully operational, and no threat exists to civilians near the facilities. “There is therefore no danger for the inhabitants living around the sites,” the agency emphasized.
Member of Parliament Manan Raeisi, who represents Qom—home to the Fordow nuclear facility—firmly rejected the American narrative. “Preliminary inspections confirm there is no nuclear radiation,” Raeisi said. He labeled President Trump’s claims as false and deliberately misleading, noting that the so-called ‘successful’ attack only damaged superficial, non-critical infrastructure like gates and fences.
“Trump’s fabricated claim about Fordow’s destruction only highlights how ineffective the strikes truly were,” Raeisi stated. “So superficial that not a single martyr has been reported at the site.”
He warned that this provocative act signals direct American involvement in the ongoing conflict. “This act of American aggression marks clear and direct involvement in the war. Iran alone will determine the timing and nature of its response to this reckless provocation,” he asserted.
On the ground in Qom, calm prevails. Emergency services confirmed no disruptions, and normal life continues undisturbed. The Qom–Isfahan highway remains open, and no evidence of a large-scale explosion has been observed. Footage released by Fars News Agency from the vicinity of Fordow showed no signs of destruction, further debunking U.S. claims.
In a significant show of regional solidarity, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission confirmed it detected no signs of radiation in the Gulf region, echoing Iran’s assessment and undermining Washington’s narrative.
Iranian officials also revealed that all three nuclear sites had been prudently evacuated ahead of time as a preventive measure, further highlighting Iran’s vigilance and strategic foresight in anticipating hostile acts.
Once again, Iran has demonstrated its capability to withstand and counter misinformation campaigns and military aggression. While the United States attempts to score political points with baseless declarations, Iran remains committed to safeguarding its sovereignty, protecting its people, and responding to provocations on its own terms.
