Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged Islamic countries to support the resilient people of Gaza in rebuilding their homes following Israel’s devastating military assault.
During a meeting in Tehran with visiting Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani on Monday, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s call for unity among Muslim nations as the most effective way to counter external conspiracies. He emphasized that increased cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology, and border security would strengthen relations among Islamic countries, fostering greater solidarity in the region.
Pezeshkian specifically thanked the Iraqi government for its unwavering support of Palestine, stating: "When it comes to helping Gaza and Lebanon, we suggest that each Islamic country contribute as much as it can to the reconstruction and return of the people to their normal lives. Indifference to the pain and suffering of the Muslim people of Gaza and Lebanon is a breach of our religious and humanitarian duties."
For his part, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening bilateral, regional, and international cooperation with Iran. He stressed Iraq’s dedication to implementing agreements between the two nations and supporting the Resistance Front in confronting the enemies of the Islamic Ummah during this sensitive period.
Members of the Iraqi parliamentary delegation, including the head of the Iraq-Iran parliamentary friendship group, also shared their perspectives on enhancing collaboration between the two countries.
The meeting underscored the growing regional solidarity in support of Gaza, as Muslim nations continue to seek avenues for economic and humanitarian assistance to Palestinian communities affected by Israel’s ongoing aggression. (ILKHA)
