Israeli attacks kill child, journalist as ceasefire violations escalate in Gaza
A Palestinian child was martyred and five others were injured on Tuesday after Israeli occupation artillery bombarded the area surrounding the Sanfour Junction east of the Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.
Local sources reported further injuries caused by Israeli gunfire in the Tuffah neighborhood in the northeastern part of the city, highlighting that occupation forces continue to demolish structures along the so-called “yellow line” in eastern Gaza City. These operations have intensified damage to civilian infrastructure despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Journalist Killed in Khan Younis
In southern Gaza, Palestinian photojournalist Mahmoud Issam Wadi was martyred following an Israeli strike in the center of Khan Younis, Palestinian media sources confirmed.
Another journalist, Muhammad Abdel Fattah Muhammad Isleih, 40, sustained injuries after being struck by shrapnel from the same attack. The targeting of journalists persists across Gaza, where media crews continue working in life-threatening conditions to document ongoing violations.
Casualties Continue to Rise
Despite the ceasefire signed in October, Israeli attacks have escalated across multiple areas of the besieged territory.
The Gaza Health Ministry announced that the death toll from the Israeli occupation’s war since October 7, 2023, has risen to 70,112 martyrs and 170,986 wounded.
In its latest update issued Monday, the ministry confirmed that 356 Palestinians have been martyred and 909 injured since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, as Israeli fire continues to target civilians in various districts of the Strip.
Civil defense teams have also retrieved the bodies of 616 martyrs who were killed prior to the ceasefire but had remained trapped beneath rubble due to earlier bombardment preventing rescue attempts.
Bodies Still Being Recovered Amid Ongoing Threats
Hospitals in Gaza received the bodies of nine martyrs over the past 24 hours who had died in previous attacks, along with one injured Palestinian seeking treatment.
The Health Ministry emphasized that many victims remain trapped under destroyed buildings and in streets where ambulance and civil defense teams cannot safely reach due to continuous Israeli threats and restrictions.
The ministry warned that the true scale of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza remains unknown, as families continue searching for missing loved ones amid widespread devastation and the collapse of vital infrastructure. (ILKHA)
