The Israeli High Court of Justice has made a landmark decision, unanimously voting to mandate the conscription of Haredi Jews into the zionist military.

The nine-judge panel's ruling also includes an immediate halt to subsidies and funds for institutions that fail to comply.

The court's decision addresses longstanding tensions regarding military exemptions for ultra-Orthodox men, who traditionally avoid conscription by enrolling in yeshivas for Torah study and obtaining annual deferrals until reaching exemption age. This system was deemed illegal and discriminatory by the High Court in 2017. Despite numerous government attempts to legislate a solution, the issue remained unresolved, prompting several petitions for immediate conscription.

This ruling marks a significant shift in Israeli society, with the potential to drastically alter the political landscape.
