Kyrgyz authorities claim to have prevented a violent coup attempt, according to a statement issued by the State Committee for National Security on Friday.
The Committee alleged a group planned to seize power through violence and incite riots to destabilize the country. Security forces conducted raids, seizing weapons, explosives, communication equipment, disguises, and extremist materials.
Five individuals have been detained as investigations continue. The Committee has promised to release further details in the future. (ILKHA)
