Russian strikes kill 4, injure 23 across Ukraine in overnight attacks

Russian forces launched a series of overnight attacks across multiple Ukrainian regions, killing at least four civilians and injuring 23 others, regional authorities reported on Sunday.
The assaults involved two Iskander-M or North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles, an S-300 anti-aircraft missile, and 47 Shahed-type attack drones and decoy drones, primarily targeting Chernihiv Oblast, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
Ukrainian air defenses downed 18 of the drones, while 10 were either lost from radar or neutralized through electronic warfare. Seven strikes hit targets in Chernihiv, Sumy, and Odesa oblasts, causing significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
In Chernihiv Oblast, a drone attack in the Nizhyn district killed one civilian, reported Governor Viacheslav Chaus. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Russian drone and artillery strikes in the Nikopol district injured seven people, including a 63-year-old man hospitalized in moderate condition, and damaged multiple homes and civilian infrastructure, according to Governor Serhii Lysak.
Donetsk Oblast saw heavy casualties, with two civilians killed and 13 injured, said Governor Vadym Filashkin. The attacks included one death and three injuries in Sloviansk, and another death and two injuries in Kostiantynivka. In Kharkiv Oblast, a 77-year-old man was killed in a Russian attack on the village of Staryi Saltiv, reported Governor Oleh Syniehubov.
In Kherson Oblast, three civilians were wounded, and five multi-story apartment buildings and 11 houses were damaged, according to Governor Oleksandr Prokudin.
The attacks are part of an ongoing escalation of Russian strikes targeting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, prompting calls from Ukrainian officials for stronger international support to bolster air defenses and counter Moscow’s aggression. (ILKHA)
