Several injured after car drives into crowd of people in Berlin

A serious accident occurred in Berlin on Thursday afternoon when a BMW struck a group of people, including several children, in the city’s central Wedding district.
According to German media reports, the crash happened around 13:10 local time at the intersection of Seestraße and Dohnagestell in the borough of Mitte. The vehicle, while making a turn, hit a group of schoolchildren believed to be around seven to eight years old.
Three of the children sustained injuries and were immediately transported to Virchow Hospital for treatment. An adult woman was also seriously injured in the collision and taken to the hospital.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, providing medical assistance and comforting the shocked children. The police confirmed that the driver of the BMW was unharmed and taken into custody.
Authorities have stated that the crash appeared unintentional. However, investigators are examining whether the driver was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, with a blood sample ordered.
