Syrian Interior Minister holds expanded security meeting in Sweida

Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab convened an expanded meeting with senior security officials in Sweida to assess recent developments and evaluate strategies following the appointment of a new internal security leadership team.
The session focused on key challenges facing security operations, reviewing measures to enhance public safety, protect citizens and property, and ensure rapid response to emergencies across the province.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Minister Khattab emphasized the participatory nature of the new appointments. “New appointments in Sweida were made with active participation from the province’s residents and diverse communities, as part of a comprehensive plan to restructure the security and police system in line with current needs—marking the beginning of a more stable phase for the region,” he wrote.
Officials noted that the restructuring aims to strengthen local law enforcement effectiveness, improve coordination between different security units, and foster trust between authorities and the community.
The ministry’s efforts in Sweida reflect a broader initiative across Syria to enhance governance, ensure public safety, and respond proactively to emerging security challenges in a rapidly evolving environment. (ILKHA)
