Türkiye pledges increased support for Afghanistan’s earthquake survivors

Sheikh Shihabuddin Delawar, head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), met with Naeemullah Karimi, leader of the Turkish Red Crescent in Afghanistan, and his delegation to discuss strengthening joint efforts to aid victims of the recent catastrophic earthquake in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces.
In a statement, the ARCS expressed gratitude for the Turkish Red Crescent’s rapid and significant support following the disaster. Delawar stressed that prioritizing aid for earthquake survivors and improving their living conditions is central to the organization’s mission.
“Our focus is on helping families rebuild their lives, which demands ongoing humanitarian support and collaboration with global partners,” Delawar said, highlighting the need for increased resources to address the widespread destruction.
Karimi reaffirmed the strong humanitarian and historical bonds between Türkiye and Afghanistan, stating that Türkiye remains committed to supporting Afghans “during times of tragedy.” He promised to expand aid efforts, providing critical supplies like shelter, food, and medical assistance to affected areas.
Both parties committed to ongoing coordination and exploring collaborative projects to reconstruct homes, restore infrastructure, and meet the long-term needs of displaced communities.
