656 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United States’ death toll from the virus to 132,979, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The U.S. has the highest death toll from coronavirus in the world, followed by Brazil with 65,556 deaths, the United Kingdom with 44,236 deaths and Italy with 34,869 deaths.
3,040,833 people have until now tested positive for coronavirus in the country, an increase of 50,586 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Until now, at least 1,324,947 patients suffering from the pandemic have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the country.
At least 38,217,640 tests have been carried out to detect coronavirus infections in the country.
New York, which is being hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus in the U.S, has so far reported more than 422,851 confirmed cases, with at least 32,267 deaths.
