A 16-year-old Palestinian child was killed, and another was injured by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in the Akbat Jabr refugee camp in Jericho on Saturday evening.
According to local sources, IOF soldiers raided the camp and opened fire on two children near the western cemetery. The attack resulted in the death of Ahmed Walid Hmaidat, 16, and injuries to another child.
Witnesses reported that after shooting the children, IOF soldiers took them away. Later, the body of Hmaidat was handed over to the Palestinian Red Crescent. The Red Crescent disclosed that its crew was initially blocked by IOF soldiers from providing first aid to the children immediately after the shooting.
Hmaidat’s body was subsequently taken to Jericho Government Hospital. There has been no information released regarding the condition of the second child, who remains in the custody of the IOF. (ILKHA)
