House sales in Türkiye witnessed a significant increase, with 165,138 houses sold in October, marking a 76.1% rise compared to the same month in the previous year, according to a statement from the Turkish Statistical Institute on Monday.
The provinces with the highest number of house sales were İstanbul with 24,812 sales, Ankara with 15,257, and İzmir with 8,658. In contrast, the provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 76, Bayburt with 97, and Ardahan with 112.
In the January-October 2024 period, house sales increased by 11.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of 1,112,374.
Mortgaged house sales surged by 278.2% in October compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 21,095. These sales represented 12.8% of all house sales. However, in the January-October period, mortgaged house sales decreased by 31.9% compared to the previous year, totaling 113,405.
Of the mortgaged house sales in October, 5,167 were first sales, while in the January-October period, 26,869 mortgaged house sales were first sales.
Other house sales increased by 63.3% in October compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 144,043. These sales accounted for 87.2% of all house sales. In the January-October period, other house sales increased by 20.7% compared to the previous year, totaling 998,969.
In October, first-time house sales increased by 97.3% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 57,679. These first sales represented 34.9% of all house sales. In the January-October period, first-time house sales increased by 20.4% compared to the previous year, totaling 358,558.
Second-hand house sales increased by 66.5% in October compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 107,459. These sales accounted for 65.1% of all house sales. In the January-October period, second-hand house sales increased by 8.3% compared to the previous year, totaling 753,816.
In October, house sales to foreigners decreased by 16.3% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 2,122. These sales represented 1.3% of all house sales. The provinces with the highest number of house sales to foreigners were Antalya with 750, İstanbul with 724, and Mersin with 148.
In the January-October period, house sales to foreigners decreased by 37.2% compared to the previous year, totaling 19,212.
In October, the highest number of house sales by nationality were made to Russian citizens with 373 sales, followed by Iranian citizens with 172 sales, and Ukrainian citizens with 136 sales. (ILKHA)
