Türkiye’s cereal and pulse exports hit record $6.1 billion in first half of 2025

Türkiye’s cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and related products sector achieved a historic milestone in the first half of 2025, with exports reaching $6.1 billion, according to data released by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
The sector exported 5.99 million tonnes of products to 214 countries and free zones, marking a 4.5% increase compared to the $5.83 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
Chocolate and cocoa-containing products emerged as the top export item, generating $618.3 million in revenue. Sunflower seeds followed with $553 million, while sweet biscuits and wafers brought in $467.9 million.
The Middle East remained the largest market for Turkish cereal and pulse exports, accounting for $2 billion in sales. African countries ranked second with $1.45 billion, and European markets followed with $857.4 million.
Among individual countries, Iraq was Türkiye’s largest export destination, purchasing $922 million worth of goods. The United States ranked second with $417.2 million, and Syria came third at $307.2 million.
Sector representatives attribute the strong performance to growing global demand, improvements in product quality, and Türkiye’s expanding trade network. Analysts note that the agricultural export boom reflects the sector’s strategic importance and its contribution to national economic growth.
Officials say continued support for farmers and exporters, along with market diversification efforts, will be key to sustaining this upward trend in the second half of the year. (ILKHA)
