Türkiye’s industrial sector booms in 2024 with nearly 19 trillion TL in sales

Türkiye’s industrial production soared in 2024, reaching an impressive 18.8 trillion Turkish Lira in sales, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.
This marks a significant jump from 13.3 trillion TL in 2023 and 8.9 trillion TL in 2022, highlighting the nation’s robust manufacturing growth.
The automotive sector was a key driver, producing 1.17 million automobiles and 1.01 million motorcycles. The home appliance industry also thrived, with 9.39 million refrigerators and freezers manufactured. In construction, 301.5 million tons of ready-mixed concrete were produced, while green energy efforts saw 34.8 million solar cells and panels made.
Food products led sales at 14.9%, followed by basic metals (10.7%), motor vehicles (9.3%), and textiles (6.1%). High-tech products made up only 3.5% of sales, with low and medium-low tech industries dominating at 68.4%. Intermediate goods accounted for 44.6% of production, followed by consumer non-durables (23.4%) and capital goods (21%).
Regionally, the automotive industry was concentrated in five provinces, with Kocaeli (32.3%), Bursa (28.8%), and Sakarya (13%) leading. Subcontracting was prominent in apparel (36.4%) and textiles (17.4%). Recycling efforts recovered 2.5 million tons of secondary raw materials, with 61.7% being metal-based.
