Türkiye's unemployment rate dips slightly in Q3

Türkiye's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 8.7% in the third quarter of 2024, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Monday.
The number of unemployed individuals fell by 20,000 to 3.1 million, while the number of employed individuals increased by 136,000 to 32.7 million.
The labor force participation rate rose to 54.3%. However, the youth unemployment rate increased to 16.8%.
The services sector remained the largest employer, accounting for 58.2% of total employment. Average weekly working hours decreased to 42.6 hours.
The data underscores a stable recovery in Turkey’s labour market, with notable improvements in employment levels and a reduction in unemployment, despite challenges in youth unemployment and underutilization. (ILKHA)
