The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that 23 PKK/YPG militants were neutralized in an operation conducted in northern Syria.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized Türkiye’s continued commitment to counterterrorism efforts in the region.
“There is nowhere to escape for terrorists, nowhere is safe for them. Our heroic Turkish Armed Forces neutralized 23 PKK/YPG terrorists detected in northern Syria. The breath of Mehmetçik will continue to be in the neck of terrorists,” the statement read.
The Turkish military has been actively targeting PKK/YPG members in northern Syria, citing threats to national security and cross-border attacks. Ankara considers the YPG to be the Syrian branch of the PKK, a designated terrorist organization in Türkiye.
The latest operation follows a series of intensified military actions against the group, as Türkiye continues to reinforce its stance against what it describes as terrorist threats along its southern border. (ILKHA)
