A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck the Aegean Sea off the coast of Karaburun district in Izmir province on Tuesday, according to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
The tremor occurred at approximately 14:49 Turkish Standard Time (TSI), with the epicenter located at a latitude of 38.9275 degrees north and a longitude of 26.0022 degrees east. The quake struck at a depth of 11.01 kilometers.
No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received. Local authorities are monitoring the situation to assess any potential impacts. Earthquakes are common in the region, as Türkiye lies in a seismically active zone.
