A magnitude 4.3 earthquake rattled the Yeşilyurt district of Turkey's eastern Malatya province on Wednesday, as reported by the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 12:54 Turkish Standard Time (TSI), with its epicenter located at a latitude of 38.25806 degrees north and a longitude of 38.12083 degrees east, at a depth of 14.27 km.
As of now, there have been no immediate reports of damages or casualties, according to local sources.
On February 6, 2023, magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria, resulting in a tragic death toll exceeding 50,000 in both countries. Many survivors grappled with the harsh reality of near-freezing winter temperatures, being left homeless by the destructive earthquakes in urban areas.
Since the devastating earthquakes in February, more than 22,000 aftershocks have been recorded, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
The ongoing seismic activity underscores the persistent challenges faced by communities in the aftermath of these impactful events. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, emphasizing the need for preparedness and resilience in the face of seismic risks. (ILKHA)
