Turkish Coast Guard teams successfully rescued 63 irregular migrants in two separate operations off the coast of Ayvacık, Çanakkale, on Friday.
In the first operation, 30 migrants, including 18 children from Afghanistan, were intercepted aboard a rubber dinghy. Shortly after, another operation in the same area led to the rescue of 33 migrants, including nine children, from Afghanistan and Iraq, also found in a rubber boat.
The migrants, who were attempting to cross the Aegean Sea, were brought to safety and transported to the Ayvacık Migrant Pre-Admission and Referral Centre for processing.
The Turkish Coast Guard continues its vigilance in combating irregular migration and ensuring the safety of those attempting dangerous sea crossings. (ILKHA)
